Dorsu - Cambodian for the effort a person makes consistently while odds seem against them; to keep trying.

Dorsu's mission is to provide people with resources, training and support allowing them to create and drive their own community development initiatives.

We approach development from a localised perspective and strongly believe that creating viable employment and training opportunities that contribute to community development, allows people to retain ownership of and participate in the positive change of their own community.

Dorsu was established in 2008 as an income generating initiative of Chumkriel Language School (CLS). Dorsu proceeds fund the free education and services provided to the community through Chumkriel Learning Centre (CLC).

Our store in Kampot is a Cambodian run social enterprise providing staff with viable employment and enabling them to learn skills in a clean, safe and positive work environment.

Each participant in the program receives secure employment and training with a competitive salary, regular hours, breaks and meals. By meeting these immediate needs, staff can comfortably learn, work and express creativity in their daily lives, benefits that are often not provided in other work places in Cambodia.

Together, CLS and Dorsu aim to replicate this model in the future, creating more initiatives to support the expansion of CLS programs.
